Yarra Valley Wines – Cabernet Sauvignon

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

We believe we make one of the best Yarra Valley wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon.  Our first commercial release of our Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was in 2000.  We had produced a Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon prior to this release but, we felt that the 2000 would be the first wine to release as it was showing great signs of a typical Yarra Valley wine, cool climate, elegant, great structure, amazing colour and complex enough to stand the test of time.  We recently opened a bottle, the nose was amazing, just beautiful, still with vibrant colour and the flavour so soft and silky.  This 2000 Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like pure silk.  We only have a few dozen, so we are going to disply in our Cellar Door and sell the last few with great pride.  The Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the variety that most of our Cellar Door guest enjoy.  Also we really enjoy making Cabernet Sauvignon.  We have both old vine Cabernet Sauvignon growing (24 yrs old) on our single vineyard property and we also have younger Cabernet Sauvignon growing (12 yrs old).

So we really believe that over time our best producing wine might just be our Cabernet Sauvignon.  Living in the Yarra Valley, growing and making wine has been the most satisfying hobby that one could imagine, however it is agriculture and with many hours of hard work in the field it really does pay off when we are sitting around the fire with a lovely glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and nibbles.

The Yarra Valley wines have a wonderful reputation not only in Australia but in many parts of the world, and it’s a heart warming to know that we contribute to such a wonderful industry.

Cheers to the Yarra Valley Wines -

And cheers to the ‘King’ Cabernet Sauvignon -
